# Creating a Subscription

> Subscriptions are an essential part of any active business. Zūm Rails has simplified how to create a subscription through the Zūm Portal, the API, and embedded codes.

### Through your Zūm portal

1. Log in to your **portal**
2. Click **Subscriptions > Add new**

3. Input all the **information** for the subscription

4. Select the **Payment Method**. You can do so by using one of the following:
   1. Automatically select **payment** and then select the **payment method**. Payment methods will vary depending on the selected user.

   2. Manually by selecting **email invoice to the user to pay manually**. This will prompt you to select how many days the payment is due and by which method.

Click **Start subscription**
